I Wannabe Out

by Sharon Warden

i wannabe out of here

the water is rising

where is robert

where is jenny

last time i saw them

they were holding

on to the stair posts

oh get me out

help us

help us

somebody

we wannabe gone

we wannabe be safe

it's not happening

oh god

my legs are stuck

i wake up in a hot sweat

to the blue cot

that is now my home

twisted up in the blanket

that looks like

lions have been wrestling

jenny and robert

are still sleeping

thank god for that,

thank god.
