Hurricane Katrina

by Barbara Hilal

Is it the end of the world?

If you were in it , I think you would think so.

The liberal thinks it is nonsensical to destroy

the Dyonesical mergings that took place in this historical city.

The conservative thinks it was the Sodom and Gommorah of the present

that was destroyed.

Was an evil force ruling, punishing the poor and innocent?

If the past and memories are what ghosts are,

did the water destroy such an abstract?

All great eras contain their own opposites.

We don't know why, but we all cried, the good and the wicked, the rich and the poor.
