Emergence

by Connie Marcum Wong

I have become a part of this tree

I am connected to its roots

and its spirit is in me.

I feel the love of the land

as morning mist shares a kiss,

I reach out my hand.

Birds alight from their flight

on my limbs and sing songs of love

throughout the day until twilight.

Much fruit I have bared

through long summer days;

earthly gifts to be shared.

My dress ever growing …

then my leaves change their hue

into autumn; soon snowing.

My limbs, flakes will pursue

yet the cold revitalizes,

my favorite blessing; life to renew.

Spring it seems will soon arrive

and again I will blossom

feeling the divine grace of being alive.
