Images of Texas Haiku

by Ron P. Nhim

standing on the pier—
catching the cool breeze and the
seagulls are gawking
Galveston wind blasts
and seagulls are wind gliding—
high tide at sunset
big head rising high—
Sam Houston statue stood tall
as big as Texas
tourists stop their cars
to look at bluebonnets bloom—
spring time in Texas
stranded in traffic—
noisy rain drops falling and
Houston high-rise blurs
at cattle auction—
the cowboys are riding trucks,
wearing brand new jeans
girls dancing three-steps—
Yellow Roses of Texas
are ready to bloom
driving all day and
still in Texas—everything
still looks the same
West Texas flat and
dry and stretches until the
edge touches the sky
Texas Park—
endless field of bluebonnets
under the blue sky
