Persuasion's Dance

by Donna Wallace

Light-footed is the dance of persuasion
It tiptoes around all the loose ends
Its suspicious moves try to convince
At the same time the truth is what bends.

Persuasion is a tool we use often
To swerve someone's thinking around
To enlist another's attention
That our way of thinking is sound.

A mysterious dance, done in the dark
With rules we make up as we go
The master illusionist uses it well
And convinces us in whatever we know.

Oh, the gentle art of persuasion
It never boasts as a lie
It's a talent, a gift, to convince you
To believe without questioning why

Allow me to gently persuade you
To read every word that I write
That the others all suffer delusions
While my word alone is what's right!
