Early Morning Workers

by Donna Flood

Sweep with a brush like broom
Swing quickly through each room

All plans, all deeds, they are the same,
From complex to manual dexterity's game.

For those who truly run the world,
Early morning workers while we are curled

In our beds so warm and comfy between the sheet,
They are up, dressed on the job, rain or sleet.

If the hour is well before four,
They left hearth and were out the door.

Enjoy our morning paper's news,
Coffee, toast, to name only of few.

Bow you low and long,
Before this early morning throng,
