Autumn Leaves

volume 7 number 5

Senyru

by Carol Raisfeld

bird by bird
the toddler kisses
her storybook
afternoon tea
the cat curls into
a square of sun
morning coffee
half a cinnamon twist
before yoga
spring fever
he kisses each freckle
in no special order
at the beach—
all his tattoos
spell Mother
morning chill
sandals crushing shells
they talk of divorce
almost dusk
specks from the sky
settle near the river
dinner for one
touching her photo
he says grace
rummage sale
her husband in the chair
not worth keeping
evening train
the woman chats
with a man asleep
daybreak
we sip bitter coffee
rehashing last night
