Autumn Leaves

volume 6 number 7

I Watched You
by Pam H. Murray

I watched your eyes at Christmas time.
They danced like fairy lights.
Your laughter rang a thousand bells
As you experienced the sights.

The Christmas trees and shiny stars
Caused you no end of joy.
You talked of all your Christmas dreams
And showed me each great toy.

I knew I couldn't slow you down,
So I just let you run.
I followed you for hours and hours.
I watched you having fun.

When the day had reached its end,
I watched you peacefully
Sleeping, tucked up warm and safe,
Such a precious memory.
