Autumn Leaves

volume 6 number 7

Eastern College Nights
by Sondra Ball

The years I lived by Eastern's shaded lawns,
I often walked the darker trails at night,
preferring them to paths made plain by light.
I loved the hidden places where dark ferns

mingled with dark waters, and tree shadows
covered trumpet and honeysuckle vines.
I took comfort in the slender light lines
from stars and new moons, night broken and fey.
