Autumn Leaves

volume 6 number 7

Seasons of Reason
by Jack Ravencrow

Autumn leaves are changing
As the summer grasses die
Nature does the rearranging
As the Season passes by.

Two free spirits bound together
With a love that knew no bounds,
We did choose to chase the sunshine
Far away from frozen ground!

Storms of life are faced together
Throwing caution to the wind,
Living each day for each other
As though youth would never end.

Stars we wished upon together
Are still shining in the sky
Born of love to last forever
Starlit memories never die.

May the Sunshine smile upon you
May true happiness you find
I have seen the seeds of kindness
Planted in your heart and mind.

When we lost our final battle
To the demon alcohol
Twelve steps you chose to travel
Proved to be the best for all—

Best of friends we'll be forever
Soul mates do forever care.
You'll still find me in the Sunshine,
In my soul you're always there!

Let the heart that asks the reason
Find the good that's in goodbye—
Humans we, can only reason,
As the seasons pass us by.
