Autumn Leaves

volume 6 number 7

Cynthia
by John Christian Hopkins

Moon shadows creep
Across the bedroom floor
As I lie abed and stare
At the face that I adore.
Gently you sleep,
So peacefully at rest.
I, who am your husband,
Know that I am blessed.
Your voice is the sweetest music
To ever touch my ears.
Yours are the arms to hold me
All the rest of my years.
The joy of your laughter
Affects me in this way:
I have no lonely memories.
I forgot all yesterdays.
I look only to the future,
Live for each tomorrow.
Since I kissed your lips hello,
I kissed goodbye my sorrow.
