Oh America!

by Larry Kibby

On September 11, 2001 a disastrous story was told,
Bringing together in unity Americans young and old,
And they are standing side by side with hearts of pity,
For a disaster that has taken place in an American City.
Oh America, America, how sad are your eyes,
Oh America, America, how your hearts cries,
And as the world sends their heartfelt sympathy
Remember America, you are the land of the free!

And as the sadness of death stretches across the land
A people are joining together with a unified hand,
And despite this evil that came from the sky,
A grieving America will walk with heads held high.
Oh America, America, how sad are your eyes,
Oh America, America, how your hearts cries,
And as the world sends their heartfelt sympathy
Remember America, you are the land of the free!

New York, the Pentagon and Washington D.C.
Became victims of a shattered peace and serenity,
And citizens throughout the land did sadly hear,
How a cowardly act brought forth an ugly fear.
Oh America, America, how sad are your eyes,
Oh America, America, how your hearts cries,
And as the world sends their heartfelt sympathy
Remember America, you are the land of the free!

Today America grieves and mourns for over 4,763,
Innocent souls that suddenly and violently were set free,
And yes, the act was corrupt, a judgmental error,
But think America, your God knows of this terror.
Oh America, America, how sad are your eyes,
Oh America, America, how your hearts cries,
And as the world sends their heartfelt sympathy
Remember America, you are the land of the free!

Remember Americans who you are in this world of the free,
Representatives of a liberty that is known from sea to sea,
And yes, all of America may be under attack,
But through peaceful resolution we will fight back.
Oh America, America, how sad are your eyes,
Oh America, America, how your hearts cries,
And as the world sends their heartfelt sympathy
Remember America, you are the land of the free!

And in this great land together we shall hail,
No matter how hard they try to crush the freedom bell,
We shall raise up and march across this land,
And against this ugly terrorism we will take a mighty stand,
So that the world will come to know and understand,
That all Americans have their feet firmly on the ground,
And the anarchy of despoiled minds will never put us down!
Oh America, America, how sad are your eyes,
Oh America, America, how your hearts cries,
And as the world sends their heartfelt sympathy
Remember America, you are the land of the free!

Human Rights and Fundamental Freedom shall forever prevail!
That is why America shall forever hail!
