Moon Goddess

by Connie Marcum Wong

From highest hill now looking out
O'er yonder city swells
Mine eyes meet with cloudy skies
The kind this day foretells

For Moon is new, in Leo too
The kind of day I dread
If I were bright, I'd pull covers up
And stay within my bed

Moon Goddess virtually puts pen in hand
And recites these words I write....
I'll get no peace for at least three days
Until she waxes t'ward the light

Is she friend or is she foe?
For all throughout my life
Six hundred sixty Moons have past,
And still I do not know!
