Finest Heroes
In memory of the firefighters, rescue workers and police officers who lost their lives in the attack on America

by Jennifer Lynn Schrichten

Nobody knows why it came to be,
that we lost great heroes to this tragedy.
A cat in the tree or a stolen purse,
These heroes where always there first.
Saving lives and helping out,
Going forward with courage without a doubt.
As they looked past fear and fought the devil,
our heroes where taken by a creature named evil.
Fallen structures and cloudy debris,
was the last thing our heroes got to see.
Now the Lord has taken them to his place,
one by one they enter with a smile on their face.
For they have beat the devil in this tremendous battle,
when the gates of heaven open the sky will rattle.
Watching over us will be their new thing,
we will remember them when a bell rings.
If ever anyone wants to know,
they were New York's Finest Heroes!
