The capitalist will profit!

by Larry Kibby

Sensitive wind sweeping over the trees,
So calm and warm is the gentle breeze.
As autumn coats creation brown,
Unanchored leaves descend to the ground,
And a small herd of deer grazes near by,
As an eagle soars above in the sky.
Mammals small and large find a cold drink,
As rivers, lakes and streams supply a thirsty link.
Mother Earth has offered food, and lodging for many,
For thousands of years there has always been plenty,
But now comes corporate America with money in hand,
And the capitalist will profit from the beauty of your land.

Unacceptable logging, cutting and pulverizing the ground,
Polluting water beds and tearing wildlife habitat down.
Unsanctioned mining for silver, coal and gold,
Chemicals poisoning animals young and old.
Delicate plant and near extinct species executed for greed,
And excellent soil will not accept the contaminated seed.
Government agencies impair and deceive public outcry
And the native land begins to slowly deteriorate and die.
Mother Earth has offered food, and lodging for many,
For thousands of years there has always been plenty,
But now comes corporate America with money in hand,
And the capitalist will profit from the beauty of your land.

The native territory contributes historical pages of times,
While archaeological summaries represent various kinds
Tribal ceremonial areas and sacred burial spots,
Now sold for enterprise and commercial lots.
Medicine plants and food gathering places
Offered up for corrupt industry and business spaces.
Indeed traditional land values full of sensation,
Now envisioned from illegal reservations.
Mother Earth has offered food, and lodging for many,
For thousands of years there has always been plenty,
But now comes corporate America with money in hand,
And the capitalist will profit from the beauty of your land.

To the Indian the land was their church and holy book,
Filled with sacred values and plenty of food to cook.
For time immemorial it was their home
And with all the wildlife they were never alone.
Non-Indians will forever desecrate the land
And will the Indian alone take up the stand,
To fight against those who profit for greed?
To fight against those who make Mother Earth bleed?
Mother Earth has offered food, and lodging for many,
For thousands of years there has always been plenty,
But now comes corporate America with money in hand,
And the capitalist will profit from the beauty of your land.

From hunting, fishing and hiking,
To camping, boating and biking,
A people found enjoyment upon the land,
Provided by the forest, hills, dirt and sand.
Now corporate greed does sabotage and pollute,
And a God-fearing people could care less or give a hoot.
Once a land considered overflowing with milk and honey,
Today genuinely spoiled and mutilated for money.
Mother Earth has offered food, and lodging for many,
For thousands of years there has always been plenty,
But now comes corporate America with money in hand,
And the capitalist will profit from the beauty of your land.

Gangs, drugs and alcohol consuming time,
Illicit intimacy and corrupt music destroying the mind.
All the while there is no one left to care,
To help protect the land they should share.
Of all the people there should be a unity bond,
But because there is not the mother country will soon be gone.
Wildlife and habitat wiped out without a say,
A land without a place for futures children to stay,
So America while you laugh, giggle and play,
Remember you need to discover a way,
To save your public lands from vanishing away!
Remember.....
Mother Earth offers food, and lodging for many,
For thousands of years more there will always be plenty,
But if corporate America comes with money in hand,
The capitalist will profit from the beauty of your land!
