Ada

by Deborah Sykes

I never knew you, yet your touch I can't forget.
You ate from my plate.
I was constantly exhausted by carrying you through your short, unappreciated time with me.
You inhabited my body and nourished my soul, for too short a time.
Excuse me if I contradict myself when I say that I miss you.
My experience in this hateful world reassured me that my selfish decision was in your
best interest.
I'll pray for your soul, in hope that you will pray for mine.
I shall never forget you, and you shall never forget me!
We've never met, but because of you I've learned many valuable lessons.
I talked to you, although you were not able to.
I interpreted your unspoken words through your every movement.
I never met you, yet it is sensible to say that I have always loved you.
