Some Words for Fletcher Lookinghawk from Your Dad

by RedFish

Oki Niiksokowa.

Sometimes when things seem
more important than they are
and life appears bigger than itself,
I can't resist the urge to reminisce
a long time ago when I was a boy.

There never was a more gentle time
recollections seem warm and happy and fuzzy.
Easy, endless, lazy days,
warm and ripe for the grasping,
months ago when I was a boy.

Problems then — even large ones — seemed so
remote and really weren't mine to begin with.
Small, trivial things were found to
solve the most perplexing problems,
a couple of weeks ago when I was a boy.

Attempts to travel back in time
yes, I know it is futile.
But don't you think there is some purpose
for all those treasured memories made,
only yesterday.....when I was a boy?
