Father
29.05.1951 – 29.08.01

by rose stark

I sat at your funeral and listened
To words to paint a picture
Of a man I did not know

I sit here and I think of you
I can see the face
Of a man I did not know

I'll never know what you really thought of me
I could never see into the heart
Of a man I did not know

Wasted years of silence
Do they hang heavy on the conscience
Of a man I did not know

On that fateful day when the news came my way
Not a tear could I cry in memory
Of a man I did not know.
