Equalizer

by Russell Golata

As the leader of the pride is forced to abdicate his throne,
You go to bed and wake up and find your children all grown.
The clock—keeps advancing—it waits for no one.
The champions of today will be upset by the up and comer.
New heroes will be crowned as the old slip off to slumber.
We all fight the clock but never have a chance to win.
The Youth of today have made aging a sin.
Within the blink of an eye they too will be sucked in.
The very second you are born, you begin to die.
It's what you do in between that matters most.
