Old Man

by John Berry

Old man sits alone,
With his memories,
His body aches,
His vision blurred.

Old man once young,
Once a warrior,
A Father,
A Grandfather.

Old man sits and thinks,
Of young love,
He once knew,
In days now gone.

Old man sits alone,
With his memories,
Of dances,
And distances.

Old man once young,
Was a builder,
A husband,
An Uncle.

Old man sits and thinks,
Of stories,
That he knows,
From days now gone.

Old man sits alone,
And remembers,
Many things.

Who will listen?
