Morning Spirit

by Jacqueline Anastasia

Oh Father Sky, Creator of all
Hear my cry!
I've seen the home that once was mine
My soul cries for peace.

Father Sky, Mother Earth
I've rested in your bosom
Held the land close to my face
Smelled the richness of the earth.

Oh Father Sky, Mother Earth
My soul soared with birds
Gliding far above where only Gods dwell
The vision was mine.

Oh Father Sky, Mother Earth
I've run with deer, swift, sure,
I've felt its fear, its joy
This vision was mine

Father Sky, Mother Earth
I've seen the patience of the Bison
Yet I'm hunted for sport
I am the vision.

Father Sky, Mother Earth,
I press my face to trees for strength
Wisdom enters my soul,
I need the vision

Father Sky, Mother Earth,
All this I have done
Yet, I still don't belong
Why did my vision leave?
