Introduction to Children's Poetry
Section: The poet
T. Aaren came to The Friends' School in Mullica Hill, New Jersey, in the spring
of 1999 to work with the children there, teaching them to love, and to write,
poetry. This issue has, in its kids' section, poems written by the students of
that school, under her tutelage. Thanks to T. Aaren, the Friends' School of
Mullica Hill, and its students, for being willing to share these poems with the

Introduction to Children's Poetry
Section: I want to
give special thanks to the students in the fourth grade class on the Fort
Apache Indian Reservation. The children in that class submitted poems to
Autumn Leaves, and I am very proud to be able to publish them in
this issue. All of you did a really great job with your poems! Thanks ever so
much! I also want to invite other classes from other Indian schools to have
your students submit poetry to Autumn Leaves. ·
