Setting Sun, and Grey Skies (for my Grandmom)

by Clare Garlitos

How is color related to love?
It is a question quite unknown.
Maybe you, or maybe I
Can answer this question before we die.
Color? Love? Are they in common?
Maybe yes, maybe no.
No one knows, that's what I'm told.
I think color is beautiful,
Like a sunset in the sky,
Multi-colored.
But others like brown and grey
And prefer to be miserable in the day.
But together they combine
Force with force, into our mind.
Confusing us, telling us
Something still in the unknown.
You must know, I must know,
The answer to this puzzle.
Color is wonderful.
For a yellow bird will fly far into the blue sky
Disappearing behind the white clouds
Into the orange sun.
But grey, as lonely as it is,
Is also beautiful.
Like grey skies and black ash and brown chocolate
are just as wonderful.
Because now if you study this closely
You will see, I am done.
For love is color.
And color is love.
