Wranglings

by Merryn Spencer

the Listener watches
paddles his mouth from side to side yet
every word in his body speaks out yet
they slip down, contentedly. Silented.
the Listener watches
pillowing thought against thought of others
laughter, which is shattered, then settles to one side
glued, then lewdly, created again.
whispers are caught. The acoustic rattle becomes her.
between tight hand-clasped pillars,
the Listener watches
feeling the pull of sudden ecstasy as he finds
the inside is tormented
while outside, like sheets of glass he sees
inside these frightened halls reverb no hollowness.
he learns that another has finaled the choosing
groping into eyes once concentrated
now they stare back as one from unknown depths
whispers are grabbed. Dead love becomes her.
he sees them
asking a little question from their little hiding places
padlocked in place, head against wizened head
looks into gleaming sets of eyes
which then are straightened up lightly
he hears them
the Listener watches, perhaps, but remembers
others staring in concerned consternation as he admitted
our Language is inferior - our Communication sufficient
through the touch of our heated bodies we say volumes more
the Listener has trespassed, he felt the brokenness but now relieved of all
He leans back, trampled into a path which has finaled the choosing
and his eyes once concentrated
recall with sudden power his lost dreams piling in existence
it is then they take him
Willingly

Just remember: there is NOTHING more irritating than a person with less intelligence and more sense than you.
