Communion Haiku

in the dark spaces
between strangers and lovers
near perfect vision
The child points a hand
at moon and sun reflecting
in the same river.
She refuses to leave,
standing still in the cold rain
beside her dead colt.
standing tall and proud
under the white rose trellis:
the young graduate
climbing the tan arm
of a pensive little boy
brown caterpillars
huddled in blankets
on the deck of the ferry:
a child with no shoes
hiking mountain trails
descending, meditating, quiet
then - a crow
tar paper cabin
pine trees shade dirt covered yard
a baby's first cry
A young warrior
walks alone on city streets
with Geronimo
snow flakes softly fall
after your memorial
friends kissing good-bye
warm summer evening
lying between satin sheets
our bodies melting
walking on the dam
little girl in a blue gingham
carries a catfish
her long blue-black hair
swings around her small brown face
her blue dress jingles
the children sleeping
on ricked bales in the barn loft
Timothy's sweet smell
