What Christmas Means to Grandma

by Louise Hagan

Tree's not decorated, lights aren't up,
House needs cleaning, what's for sup?
Company's coming, what fun, but oh, my!
Customers demanding, no time for a sigh!

Off to L.A.; hope the plane's not late
Pray for good weather, gotta lose weight.
Forgot my haircut; will the turkey thaw?
Look at the traffic; worst I ever saw.

Dinner was okay; the room is a mess.
Christmas wasn't bad; pretty good, I guess.
If I had just one of those legendary wishes,
It'd be that Santa'd fly in—and do the dishes!
