An October Morning

by Sondra Ball

Children go dancing along the old street,
singing, "Derry dum derry dum derry dum dee,"
dancing by rivers, by willows, by reeds,
singing, "Derry dum derry dum derry dum dee."
They prance through the piles of fallen red leaves.
They climb the low branches, then swing through the trees,
singing, "Derry dum derry dum derry dum dee."
