October's Music

by Sondra Ball

Who has not sung October's wild melody?
The cold brook racing down the mountainside,
the cries of geese flying above oak trees,
the sharp single call of the red-tailed hawk.

Who has not danced with October's wild rhythm?
red and yellow leaves swirling in wild winds,
monarch butterflies fluttering through trees,
the sudden hoof falls of the white-tailed deer.
