Hi Mom – Happy Mother's Day

by Joanna B. Barnett

This day was created just for you

To be grateful and honor all you do

To remember the times, both good and bad

To remember the things that made you happy or mad

So many stories and memories to share

Oh how I wish I could still be there

You were silly and funny and just a big kid

I tried to imitate you in all that I did

Your laughter and singing were candy to my ears

Your love and understanding were constant through the years

Your anger was quick and your temper was strong

But your love unconditional even when I did wrong

Not just a woman, but a lady you were

With grace, dignity and love that was pure

As a child you were my "Mom"

As an adult you were my "Friend"

And you were always there for me until the very end

You have made me the woman I am today

I have become like you in every way

I hope my children see me the way I saw you

I can see them imitate me in the little things they do

Mom, I just want to say I love you and miss you every single day

But God called upon you and you had to go away

So to speak with you now I have to kneel and pray

But it comforts me to know that you're only a prayer away

Thank you, Mom, for everything

Happy Mother's Day.
