Sunlight Trills

by Sondra Ball

Sunlight trills through bayberry leaves

on rugged sea cliffs

mingling

with wind and mist and silence

I sit still

on a large rock

above the tide waves

and savor the moment:

aroma of cheese sandwich

red wine

wet leaves

sand

salt
