Spring Fleece

by Sondra Ball

this spring's fleece

from lamb and sheep

being prepared

teased

carded

logged

wrapped tightly

on the spindle

lanolin smell

lingering

poke berries

simmering

on the stove

deep dye

purple red

ready

for wool dipping

outside line

ready to hang

colored wool

next winter's

child sweaters
