I Vow to Kneel

by Carol Knepper

Oh, God, this year I passionately pledge to ply for peace

and plenty in Your wondrous wise-wrought world. I warmly

warrant to uphold Your sacred sky-soil lease, and to leave

Your rich and loamy land intact from living thereupon.

I vouch my willingness to learn from lessons taught, and

to thrive and grow in grace in trying times. I commit

myself to radiate calm composed placidity when rough

waters rudely rage and roil, and when my fragile finite

craft is tossed by tempest, turmoil, and tumultuous threat.

I swear to further fond fidelity to faithful friends, and to

simply see no woman, man or child as fearsome foe. I vow

to kneel in glowing gratitude each love-lit morn, delighted

by Your generous gifts, and to serenely spend each dazzling

day in reverent respect for Creation's blessèd bounteous boon.
