Endangered

by Kristine Bongcaron

1.   Eretmochelys imbricata

Wide prying eyes roam

the hawksbill's carapace hide

as greedy hands snap.

2.   Aceros waldeni

The hornbill's casque moves

the nosy wanderer's path

green bucks spells the prize!

3.   Tarsius syrichta

Hunters gamely guard

the tarsier's large goggled eyes

to fill pockets wide.

4.   Pithecophaga jefferyi

Sharpshooters know all

the eagles majestic flight

stuffed and gaffed and gagged!
