The Single Indian

by Larry Kibby

Falling into my mind,

Standing alone in time,

No one by my side,

Solitary pride,

Single Indian man,

Upon a Sovereign land.

Deceiving faces,

Lying to the races,

No valued passion,

No sincere compassion,

Single Indian man,

Upon a Sovereign land.

No constitutional right,

Injustice without a fight,

Assimilated relation,

Representing the nation,

Single Indian man,

Upon a Sovereign land.

Red Power movement strong,

Government policy wrong,

Elder's education,

Preserving the reservation,

Single Indian man,

Upon a Sovereign land.

People turning away,

Losing faith everyday,

But I stand with dignity,

Hoping for equality,

I'm just a single Indian man,

Standing among my ancestors,

Upon the Sovereign Nations land.
