Dawn's Glow

by Bobbi Sinha-Morey

Safe in its nest

a starling awakens

to the blackbird's

cadence rearing its

head sleepily savoring

the warmth of its bed

while today's dawn

instills a sweet calm

and the grass by the

water ripples when

the peace was effaced

by the breeze. A row

of tall oaks hang over

a road where tumble-

weeds grow under the

trees' leafy green arcs

and the unbroken glow

of the sun peeks through

the boughs a pale orange

indigo.
