Poverty Angels

by G.A. Scheinoha

We have broken our halos,

shattered them all

beneath the cherubic

weight of

these dreams.

Seraphim we're not,

we cannot

flutter above

the Sistine Chapel,

add or subtract

our feathery light

from the dark

clutter

of future

ages
