Missing Texas

by Joanna B. Barnett

Another summer has come and gone

Still in Maine, don't know how long

Winter is now approaching fast

Stuck inside, oh what a blast!

Two screaming kids with no place to go

How long can I take this? I don't know

Longing for Texas I'll always be

The sun, the warmth, the smell of the sea

Some don't understand my cries

Yearning to return to my family ties

The beach, the lakes, the bright blue skies

You don't see Texas? Look into my eyes
