A Long and Happy Marriage

by Sam Silva

Dear sweet cup

of love and nights

…drunk reclining

by the flickering computer lights

which decorate in color

and in shadow

all of the true art of this soul,

this breath

this long long life

inclined toward gentle death

and further peaceful flights

when Summer ends

and Autumn comes

and feels and bends

the time on which my mind is dining

till all minds must fly away.

Oh perfect wine!

Oh sacrament

whose lucky gift

comes every day…
