I Go Dancing

by Vonda Faye Ball Pelow

In the night-time, when no one will see,

I go dancing by the dim starlight.

Beneath the trees, I spin and twirl;

And under my feet, feel the cool earth swirl.

On moonlit beaches, I sing to the sea,

And dance in and out of the tossing waves;

And the silvery glow of the moon-washed crests

Caress me laughingly, and I laugh back.

Among the meadow's faint-gleaming blossoms,

I go twirling, swirling; fling out my arms

Towards the moon-lit, star-lit sky

And a meteor's bright-flaming trail. Then, warm

With joy, I hug the Earth,

And praise our God for giving birth

To sea, land, and air—all Life and Space—

The Universe. And gave therein, for me, a place.
