Amazing Grace!

The Scopes Monkey Trial:
Tennessee (1925)

by Richard Vallance

William Jennings Bryan to the court:

Amazing Grace! We've stormed that Holy place

to fend for Jesus Christ, whose solid Might

fell for our Salvation and your disgrace,

you sinners, gibbons aping human sight.

Go on, Evolutionists, fan your lusts:

we bless Him in lieu, who sweeps sins away:

You wring your hands & whine? "Your God's unjust"…

And you blame us? You never knew how to pray.

God's Miracles (for Creationists alone)

evolve so well that we who pray so well

all know that Darwin's theories carved in stone

condemn you to carve your own words in Hell.

Since Genesis favours us before God,

why whine you're starved for Love … is that so odd?
