Isaiah 43:2

by Sondra Ball

As great waters flood around me

with their strong waves, deep and cold,

I can feel God's presence by me;

he stays as my main and hold.

For the Lord himself has whispered,

"When the oceans press against you,

you will not be drawn beneath them.

I will bring you safely through."

Seas of sadness, tides of terror,

bitter salty waves of pain,

rolling surges of depression

sweeping round my heart and brain:

Yet God whispers through the turmoil,

"What I promised you is true.

You will not be drawn beneath them.

I will bring you safely through."
