A Glimpse of Heaven

by Jessica McKinney

Intriguing beauty—it appeared to me,

Untamed imagination depicts what I see.

The faint gusting wind seemed as a sigh,

Light of the sun warms the skies.

Leaves dance amidst humbled branches,

A garden filled with the God of second chances.

Hope lay within the ever-flowing streams,

Fed by falling waters atop the cliff of dreams.

The grass so green as an emerald stone,

It laid evenly as it was perfectly sewn.

Stars are hidden by the light of day,

It is the base of heaven to which we pray.

A light sprinkling of rain so quaint and energizing,

As warming as His Love quite revitalizing.

A palace of freedom untouched and uncorrupted,

Silenced from distraction nothing to disrupt it.

Not one shadow harbors the darkness,

The Son is light my soul surely harkens.

His destination was not the end but the start,

The purpose—for every soul to take part.

A creation so elegant and utterly divine,

A place to relieve the suffering mind.

Assembled by the hand of God for all to believe,

A love so perfect no human could conceive.
